AN INFORMATION MEETING will be held on Wednesday May 22nd from 6PM to 7PM in the
community Room at Bullock’s Independent Grocer on 131 Holland Dr. in Huntsville. Find out how
to get involved in Circles® Huntsville.
Circles® is a community-based initiative creating intentional relationships across economic
boundaries to reduce poverty. It matches families of low-income with community volunteers.
Research and best practices show that building a strong and supportive community is most
successful in helping to reduce poverty. Circles® provides this opportunity: “Being a part of the
Circles® community has changed my life. The support I get from Allies and friends in Circles is
priceless. Now I know people care and believe in me and that makes me believe in me too,” Circles
participant.
Five organizations led by YWCA Muskoka including Muskoka Community Church; Gravenhurst
Women’s Centre; The Table Soup Kitchen and Bracebridge United Church have formed a Circles®
chapter in Muskoka. Over 20 organizations are part of the advisory group for the project. Since
Circles® began in January 2017; 67% of families have increased their income, 44% have exited
Social Assistance, 22% have increased education.
“This group began as a conversation between organizations about how we can reduce poverty in
Muskoka. It is incredible that Circles® has become a reality. To continue to offer Circles® to our
community we need a strong volunteer base from the local community-so come out for an hour on
May 22nd and discover how you can make a difference!” Liz Angell Project Coordinator Muskoka.
